CAC-2002 Seattle WA
The Eighth International Conference on Chemometrics in Analytical Chemistry will be held September 22-26, 2002 in Seattle, WA. Information is available at http://www.eigenvector.com/cac2002.
GENERAL INFORMATION AND TOPICS: The conference is organized under the auspices of the North American/International Chemometrics Society (NAmICS). The emphasis will be on new developments and applications of chemometrics in analytical chemistry. Specific topics will include:
* Combinatorial Chemistry, Genomics and Proteomics * Bioinformatics * High Throughput Screening
* Spectroscopic Imaging * Handling of missing data, robust estimation * Method validation and metrology * Experimental design * Pattern recognition, classification, multi-way analysis * Process analytical chemistry * Multivariate modeling and calibration * Genetic algorithms, neural networks, data mining * Chemometrics in environmental and industrial problems * Graphical communications
* Chemometrics in low-dimensional spaces
CALL FOR PAPERS: The CAC-2002 Scientific Committee invites you to submit papers for oral or poster presentation to the conference chair Barry Wise (bmw@eigenvector.com). Submission deadline is April 15, 2002.
KEY DATES: April 15, 2002 Submission of abstracts for oral and poster presentation. May 30, 2002 Notification of acceptance and form of presentation of contributions. July 1, 2002 Early registration period ends. August 1, 2002 Hotel accommodation deadline. September 26, 2002 Submission of manuscripts for publication in Proceedings.
REGISTRATION: The fee for the conference will be $395 for registrations received before July 1 and $495 for registrations after that date. Students can get $150 off their registration fee by sending a letter from their department chair stating that they are currently enrolled in a degree program.
LODGING AND VENUE: CAC-2002 will be held at the Washington Athletic Club (WAC) located on 6th Avenue in the heart of downtown Seattle with its many restaurants and waterfront attractions. A block of 75 sleeping rooms has been held for conference participants at the special conference rate of $135 a night (single or double occupancy, plus 15.6% tax). These rates are good three days prior and following the conference as long as space is available.

2002 FACSS - Providence RI
The 29th Annual Meeting of the Federation of Analytical Chemistry and Spectroscopy Societies FACSS will be held October 13-17, 2002 at the Convention Center, Providence, RI. Complete conference information is available at the web site http://facss.org.
CALL FOR PAPERS. Original research papers are requested in all areas of analytical chemistry and spectroscopy for oral or poster presentations at http://facss.org/facss/program_submit.php. The deadline for submission is April 26, 2002.
ON-LINE REGISTRATION. The Website features on-line registration for the conference, workshops, and the employment bureau.
ACCOMMODATION: Rooms have been blocked at the Westin, Biltmore and Holiday Inn locations in Providence.
FACSS WORKSHOPS. The FACSS workshop program covers a wide range of topics of current importance in analytical chemistry. The workshops are given by leading experts, who work hard to present clear and comprehensive information that is useful for the practicing Analytical Chemist.
