| EDITOR'S NOTES
The move of the Department of Chemistry at Queen's to a new building (Chernoff Hall) is complete, but the building still needs some finishing touches.
Several reports that were submitted to the October 30th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting are included in this Newsletter. I have done some editing in order to fit the reports into the available space. The full texts of these reports are available from me or from the individual authors.
On page 4, Diane Beauchemin reports on the further excellent progress she has made with the Journal since taking on the job of Editor-in-Chief. Special Issues of the Journal will appear to honour the former Editors-in-Chief Ian Butler and Chak Chakrabarti.
On page 6, Joy Sen Gupta reports on the business aspects and finances of the Journal. For the current year the Journal has lost one of its Corporate Sponsors (Agilent technologies). This is a serious blow to the finances of the Journal. Joy Sen Gupta has made a great effort to reduce expenses, but the loss of revenue will mean a larger subsidy from the Society this year. Efforts will be made to persuade Agilent and other companies to take out Corporate Sponsorship of the Journal for 2003.
This issue also includes Treasurer's and membership reports by Heidi Chen and a report by Student Representative Tina Mann.
I sadly reported in the previous Newsletter that Doug Russell one of the founding members of the Society died in March this year. Shier Berman and Victor Boyko have written an obituary, which appears on page 2 of this issue.
