International Workshop on Beverage Alcohol Authentication

Canadian Customs and Revenue Agency / Agence des Douanes et du Revenu du Canada
In conjunction with ICASS 2003

The Laboratory and Scientific Services Directorate of the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency will be hosting an international workshop on beverage alcohol analysis in conjunction with the 49th International Conference on Analytical Sciences and Spectroscopy taking place in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, from June 1st to the 4th, 2003.

The objective of the workshop is to share information among experts from government, industry, and academia on the identification and authentication of alcoholic beverages. The illegal sales of smuggled and counterfeit alcoholic beverages are a serious concern for government agencies and the alcohol beverage industry worldwide. There is a clear requirement for a concerted scientific effort to chemically identify these illegal products.

This workshop will consist of presentations and discussions on the most recent scientific methods and test procedures. The Laboratory and Scientific Services Directorate invites you to contribute your expertise in this field through formal presentations and active participation in round-table discussions.

The workshop will be organized and co-chaired by:

Dr. André Lawrence and
Ms. Margaret Hurley.

The deadline for abstracts is March 31, 2003. For additional information on this workshop, please contact the coordinator:
Mr. Dennis Moccia
